End Of An Era For Fine Gael In Cork.

Simon Coveney announces he won't stand in the next General Election

The 52-year-old Cork South Central TD was first elected to the Dáil in a by-election in 1998 and briefly served as an MEP. He served as minister for housing, agriculture, foreign affairs and defence, and more recently was minister for enterprise. In 2017, he competed against Leo Varadkar for the leadership of Fine Gael. Although he won the vote among the popular Fine Gael with grassroots Fine Gael members, he ultimately lost because the parliamentary party strongly supported his Dublin West rival, Leo Varadkar.

The video is from when Simon Coveney was interviewed on BBC about Brexit and took Andrew Marr to school.
